Welcome to Wooster Memorial Park!
The Friends of Wooster Memorial Park invites you to enjoy the beauty of Wooster Memorial Park. These public events are sponsored by the Wooster Parks Department and are led by Friends of Wooster Memorial Park volunteers. Children must be accompanied by an adult. All events will begin at the Silver Road parking lot. Registration is not required, but groups should contact the Community Center ahead of time (330-263-5207).
Participants should wear sturdy footwear. Bring water, insect repellent, and anything else needed for the event. No pets, please.
Saddleback Hike on Sunday, September 18th at 2:00 PM
On Sunday, September 18th at 2:00 PM you will have the opportunity to see both the Little Killbuck Valley and Rathburn Run ravine from hillsides above about the creeks. The views are spectacular! Come prepared to cross Rathburn Run. This event will provide hikers with numerous vantage points to appreciate the beauty of the Park.
Asters Walk on Sunday, October 2nd at 2:00 PM
Wooster Memorial Park, known for its magnificent spring flowers, also has showy flowers in fall. One of our resident botanists will led this walk on Sunday, October 2nd at 2:00 PM, to the hot spots of asters at WMP. There will be other fall wildflowers to see, too, as you walk through this amazing property.
Sassafras Trail Hike on Sunday, October 9th at 2:00 PM
Come out to Wooster Memorial Park on Sunday, October 9th at 2:00 PM and see some enormous sassafras trees. Sassafras trees are not usually the larger trees in the woods, but along this trail the sassafras trees are giants! The trail has been improved recently and this event promises to be a treat for everyone.
Trees for Tots Walk on Friday, October 14th at 10:30 AM
Children ages three through five are invited along with an adult to join us for Trees for Tots, a child-paced hike at Wooster Memorial Park on Friday, October 14th at 10:30 AM. Led by Friends of Wooster Park volunteers, we'll hike into the woods to look at trees of all shapes and sizes, exploring them with all of our senses. We'll finish up with a song and a craft. Wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather. Feel free to pack a lunch for a picnic afterwards.
